Canon 70-200mm f/4L IS USM Lens
The Canon EF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM Lens is the baby of the 70-200mm series (also available in f2.8). It's L series with USM and f/4 all the way through with Image Stabilisation.
Christopher Frost introduces you in his video review that follows, the Canon EF 70-200mm f4 IS USM Lens.
The following Youtube video review of the Canon 70-200mm f4 L IS also covers the NON IS. The only difference between the two lenses is the Image Stabilisation mechanism, other than that the lenses are identical.
If you are eyeing up the 70-200mm f2.8 IS version but can't muster the funds then this could be the one for you.

- The Best 70 -200 Review by Que
This lens is arguably the best in the Canon line up of 70 – 200 mm lenses. The sharpness will amaze you and the weight is perfect if you are going to be using it all day long. I have used the F2.8 and there is no question that it is an awesome lens, but is it twice as good? I believe no is the answer and it is heavy very heavy. The out of focus back ground that this lens achieves at F4 at 200 mm with reasonable distance between the subject and background is second to none. This lens is in my option the best value and most useable 70 -200 mm lens available, it is sharp and light. The F2.8 is fine if you aren’t in the field all day every day, but if you are the F4 is my choice.

Value Quality Ease of Use Price
This lens is absolute must have. The major downside to the f/2.8 is that it is twice the weight. This lens can be taken out for long periods without any pain. This lens in not an inside lens especially at f/4 but outside its extremely sharp and produces excellent colour. THIS LENS IS A MUST HAVE!

- OK with reservations Review by Mike A
Value Quality Ease of Use Price
I bought this lens as an addition to my 17-40 lens, using it on a Canon 7D I've had to learn to be very careful on what shutter speeds are used to avoid camera shake, even using a tripod. You need to have a very fast shutter speed to remove any hint of camera shake. Even with IS, which I have to turn off when using the tripod, this is not a lens to use in low light situations.
When you get it right, the results are good but you need to be very careful with your camera settings, and I don't believe they are as good as every review I've read about this lens say it is.
Maybe this lens is better suited to other Canon cameras.
Quality of the build of the lens is excellent.
Would I buy it again? NO
