- Best Value for money lens going Review by Aussieroo All my reviews (1)
I personally own 2 of these. It rarely comes off my wife's 50D and when we travel or walk the city and really only want one lens, this is the best "one size fits all" lens money can buy. The IS is fabulous, really pulls up the shake at all zoom levels. Remember it is not an L glass lens and yes there are better quality lenses out there and cost a lot more. So whether you are a beginner or a semi pro enthusiast you should have this lens in your kit. Good zoom range, sharp but maybe not throughout the whole zoom range and while some consider it Slow with a little ISO help it performs quite adequately for your holiday type photos. I have encouraged at least 5 of my friends to buy one and none of them are sorry they did so.Two of them took this lens on a trip to England separately and both came home with beautiful photos worthy of their more expensive lenses left at home. If you are new to the DSLR world, let me encourage you to buy this lens in a camera kit or buy the body only and add this lens to it. A great first lens to learn the craft on.

- An excellant allrounder/travel lens Review by DavinH
Quality Ease of Use Price Value
I bought one of these EF-S 18-200 with a 500D as a kit 2 years ago and carted it all round Southern, Central and Northern Australia, China and it has served me well as an all rounder. I like the focal range it has as it covers everything I have needed on my travels without the inconvenience of carrying extra lens or risk of getting dust in the camera when changing lens on the road. Possibly the only downside is that at times it is difficult to control depth of field as it is only a f3.5-5.6 however to do better you would have to pay 4 or 5 times the price for top quality glass. I have recomended it to many of my friends and think highly enough of it to buy an new one for my new 650D body.

- Great lens for the enthusiastic grandfather! Review by jeh
Price Value Quality Ease of Use
I bought this in January 2011 to fit a 400D. It has been everywhere with me, all over Australia and in 10 other countries - to air shows and wild scenery, London during the Jubilee celebrations (crowds!!) to family gatherings.
I have been delighted with the performance - I gave a 4 on quality because there are some occasions when I had hoped for better definition, but this may be my fault in some instances. It has had a couple of hard knocks which have not led to a problem.
The IS is a godsend and the zoom range allows pulling in the far distant objects or picking out one grandchild from the mob with satisfactory bokeh.
I have 'sold' the lens to a son and a friend and they are as delighted as me.
Buy one, unless you are super critical of your photos, you will love it and rarely use another.

- Well worth saving up for Review by activist.bw
Ease of Use Price Value Quality
After saving up for several months purchased the 18-200 lens for my Canon 550D and I have found it easy to use and certainly saves me the necessity of changing lenses to take that photo of a distant object. I am still an amateur photographer and most photos are mere snapshots to hide on my computer's hard drive (backed up onto DVD) for some one to discover in years to come, Only yesterday I had need to find a photo I took in 2004 with my previous 9 mp Fuji to put on my web site. I wish I had more time to use the new lens.
