- Jack of all trades Review by Cam
Any photographer will tell you that even the most expensive digital body is worthless without good glass to back it up, and it isn't too often you come across a superzoom like this one which ticks all of the boxes. Nikon set a precedent for quality with the 18-200mm VR lens for DX bodies and needless to say their equivalent FX offering does not disappoint.
Surprisingly, Lens distortion is exceptionally well controlled with very acceptable levels of pin-cushioning and barreling, even at the extremities of the lens' massive zoom range.
Sharpness is on par with lenses twice it's price, although as expected significant vignetting is apparent when shooting with the aperture wide open. At F3.5-5.6, the maximum aperture of this lens isn't going to impress everyone, however the inbuilt vibration reduction system does a good job at compensating for the loss of light while allowing the lens to retain a reasonably compact form. The 28-300mm VR is an excellent choice for travelers or even serious photographers looking to lighten their load, without the sacrifice in image quality commonly associated with superzoom lenses.

- Great for traveling Review by Cory (Staff)
Ease of Use Price Value Quality
Those looking for a lens that is easy to travel with should consider this lens. It is one that i often recommend for those who are looking for a versatile lens that is of higher quality than the kit lenses that often come with camera kits.
It has a built in image stabiliser that helps ensure a steady hand whilst shooting as well.
