I love photographing Sunrises on my long hikes, usually to a waterfall. I acn tell you that as a seasoned hiker I can tell you that I am 0% keen to carry glass with me. There is one exception however and it is these super hardened ND filters. Explorer by name and explorer by nature (no pun intended), I use the NiSi 100x150mm Nano IR all of the ND filters from the Explorer range as they are far less likely to break if dropped or knocked.

What makes the NiSi 100x150mm Nano IR filters so hard? They are made from B270 tempered glass.

Unlike the normal Graduated ND filters that go from no ND in the middle to full power at one edge, the Reverse graduated ND is full power in the middle and fades out to one edge. If you are shooting sunrises or sunsets for instance, the sun is super hot at the horizon when you are likely to get the most impact of colour say on clouds. The Reverse filter "cools" this brightness down, in this case of the ND16 to 1/16th of the impact. The resulting image is powerful to say the least.

Another important part of the NiSi success is that they do not cause any vignetting. On top of that they are very high definition given the Nano coatings on both sides and they are also water and oil repellent.

This 100x150mm filter is compatible with the NiSi 100mm filter system.
