Hoya PRO1D UV Filters
Hoya Pro1D UV Filters
The Hoya PRO1D UV Filters are by far our biggest selling UV filters. Customers ask for them by name and we recommend them for most lenses barring maybe the entry level kit lenses for a beginner, who is unlikely to see the difference in a photo.
Pretty much on a weekly basis we have a customer come in, they have dropped their lens, with a smashed filter that is jammed onto their lens! Thank goodness for that. The UV filter has taken the brunt of the impact and broken but the lens and the lens face remains in tact. From this example alone you can see the the value of a quality UV filter as a filter, whilst often seen as expensive upfront, is far cheaper than a new lens.
Now Tom thinks that the Pro1d is for the professional and serious amateur. Watch the video review of the Pro1d UV to understand his point of view. Later on this page you can link to the Hoya HD UV filter review if you wish to compare the two.
Hoya Filters are available in several types and prices. This page is about the "Hoya Pro1d UV Filters." Superb Hoya priced super high quality Pro1d UV Filters
Hoya UV filters are designed to ultraviolet (UV) light from entering your camera lens. Just like sunscreen the UV filters are there to reduce the amount of ultraviolet light that enters your camera lens on its way to the camera sensor. UV Filters are also a great way to protect your lens face from dirt dust, grime and things like tree branches! It's a long story....
The UV Filter will also reduce haze and hence allow for higher image quality.
