There are a few differences between Carbon Fibre and Aluminium tripods that are exactly the same dimensions. There is a slight weight difference but not significantly. The main differences are in the strength of the legs giving carbon fibre roughly twice the load capacity and stiffer legs. Hence the price being a lot more for carbon.
