Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8E FL ED VR Lens

Now that the prior version of the Nikon 70-200mm is no longer available you have but one option, the E version. The question is, are you getting value for money in terms of professional image quality? As a Canon shooter, I have become envious of the new Nikon E lenses for one simple reason, HOLY SMOKE the image quality is sensational. It is a "shut up and take my money" situation.
