Mirrorless Cameras

A camera that has a mirror is called SLR / single lens reflex. In digital cameras it is. DSLR. That term refers to when looking into the viewfinder which has a mirror, the view turns 90 degrees down to then bounce of the main mirror and then out through the lens. Hence the term “through the lens.” In a mirrorless camera this doesn’t happen. The absence of the mirror which would on a DSLR fold up and make a clunklike noise each time the shutter button is pushed, means that the process of taking a photo is all but silent. As there isn’t a mirror or the mechanism to move the mirror, the camera is lighter and can be smaller.
