The SIGMA 10-18mm F2.8 DC DN | Contemporary uses a GM aspherical concave lens with a large polarization ratio and high refractive index in the first group, reducing the number of elements in the first group and shortening the overall length.
Its lightweight and compact size make it easy to carry around. Its wide F2.8 aperture is ideal for low light situations and can create pleasing background blur whilst retaining high optical performance.

This compact and lightweight ultra-wide-angle zoom lens is especially suited for vlogging applications, with a 15mm (35mm equivalent) angle of view at the wide end, a convenient angle of view for selfies, and a low-breathing optical design that also makes it powerful for video recording.
A new push-on petal type hood has been developed.
Thanks to the new structure with a spring and lever which is not used by any other manufacturer, the hood has been made both thinner and smaller.
The small size of the hood also contributes to the compactness of the lens, as a whole, including the length of the hood, allowing photographers to take full advantage of its mobility even when the hood is attached.
The SIGMA 10-18mm F2.8 DC DN | Contemporary has filter diameter that’s 12mm larger than that of the SIGMA 18-50mm F2.8 DC DN | Contemporary to ensure a wide angle of view. However, the hood diameter has a difference of only 3.8mm due to the use of a push-on type hood that makes the hood thinner.
Whether this type of hood is going to be adopted in future models has not been determined, SIGMA is planning to actively adopt it in products featuring compact size.
