Sigma 135mm f/1.8 Art Lens

We had a visit from the Sigma Australia rep today and he introduced us all to the new Sigma 135mm Art Lens for both Canon and Nikon DSLR's. The biggest excitement is that the Sigma 135mm Art Lens is a f/1.8 aperture which will be amazing in low light or portrait shooting. With a fixed focal length of 135mm you can stand back from the subject (and have to stand back) and push the lens to says f/2.8 and get gorgeous bokeh.

The second exciting thing about the Sigma 135mm Art Lens is actually the price. It will retail for around $1600 which when you compare it to the Canon 135mm f2 is a pretty enticing price. There is little at all in the Nikon lens range to compare the Sigma 135mm Art Lens too.

As you would expect if you are familiar with other Sigma Art lenses that this Sigma 135mm Art Lens is a beast. The Sigma 135mm Art Lens are large and heavy so you should take that into account especially when considering the shutter speeds you may wish to use.

The Sigma rep described the new Sigma 135mm Art Lenses are THE SHARPEST of all Art series lenses ever. I have no reason to disbelieve this assertion as he prior assessments have been spot on.

It is still early in the history of the Sigma 135mm Art Lenses so there are only a few Youtube videos. Having said that the following review is worth a watch.
