Shotgun Microphones

A Shotgun Microphone is usually longer (much longer in some cases) than wider. The mic is "Uni-Directional" in that is blocks out all sound but for what is right in line with the front of the microphone.

Shotgun microphones are highly directional microphones designed to capture audio from a specific direction while minimizing unwanted background noise. They are commonly used in film production, broadcasting, field recording, and other applications where focused audio capture is required.

When choosing a shotgun microphone, consider factors such as the desired polar pattern (supercardioid or hypercardioid), the microphone's length and weight, its compatibility with your recording equipment, and its ability to handle environmental conditions. Shotgun microphones are commonly used with boom poles or mounted on cameras, so it's essential to consider the microphone's form factor and mounting options as well.
